The original Obsydian stone is, like diamond, a rare and splendid creation of nature that only expert hands know how to shape, revealing its innate beauty.
Obsydian specializes in the processing of semi-precious stones to create precious architectural details. The original Obsydian stones are incorporated into furnishing or design projects, creating a perfect combination with other materials and increasing their overall value.
Originality is guaranteed by three fundamental phases.
FIRST PHASE – SELECTION OF RAW MATERIAL
The raw material must meet specific parameters. In the case, for example, of raw blocks of labradorite with variable average dimensions (40 cm x 60 cm x 30 cm), certain characteristics are carefully evaluated and analyzed: compactness and iridescence.
Under the careful eye of experts, these elements can already be identified during the first inspection of the block.
SECOND PHASE – PROCESSING AND CUTTING
This phase includes various processes, including cutting the raw stone into slabs of different thicknesses, determined by its final use or by the detail to be achieved.
Manual cutting is always an essential part of this phase and requires extreme precision and craftsmanship, as it will enable the creation of pieces of various sizes intended for different assemblies.
THIRD PHASE – CALIBRATION, GLUING AND ASSEMBLY
For smaller pieces, a smoothing process is carried out to make the surface even more refined and ready for polishing.
It must, however, be considered that semi-precious stones have different physical and chemical characteristics.
Some, such as Malachite and Lapis Lazuli, are very soft and not very hard, requiring adjustments in the various processing stages; others, such as Jasper and Tiger’s Eye, are instead among the hardest materials.
To achieve a satisfactory final result, it is therefore necessary to rely on the skilled hands of artisans, who work them with care and an almost obsessive attention to detail.
COLLABORATION WITH FIDELIO
